Hà Nội Scribbles: COVID-19 edition

Travel & Living in Hanoi, Vietnam

Scanning on the way. Again

Ticket scanning turnstiles were installed over the weekend at Kim Ma bus station in Hanoi.

Doubtless, they will be rolled out all along the BRT route to Yen Nghia. The age of smart tickets looms.

Equally, without doubt, will be the incompatibility of existing bus cards that are used on the rest of the Hanoi bus network. I will keep you updated on the progress of the rollout as I get it.

The only predictable thing is the chaos that will ensue when it all goes live. See the previous attempt at turnstiles last year and my predictions.

UPDATE on July 25, 2018:  Still no information forthcoming about when the smart tickets and scanning is due to start. Nothing on the Hanoi BRT Facebook page or their website as far as I can see.
