Checking out Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi

No visit to Hanoi is complete without visiting Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum. Not to do so is like going to Paris and not visiting the Eiffel Tower.

Fifty years on from his death, the beloved Ho Chi Minh is still revered in Vietnam. The mausoleum is definitely a must see, but expect long queues as Vietnamese pay their respects to the man affectionately known as Uncle Ho.

Afterwards take in the nearby Ho Chi Minh Museum to get some context on this Vietnamese icon and his enduring legacy.

Find out some of the background to visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum from a Vietnamese perspective in this CNN feature and see the changing of the guard in this Hanoi Scribbles video
